☪ DailyDeen - Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 17, 2026
DailyDeen ("we", "our", or "the app") is a mobile application developed by S.U. Digital. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Location Data
DailyDeen requests access to your device's GPS location to calculate accurate prayer times, Qibla direction, and to find mosques near you. Your location data is:
- Processed locally on your device for prayer times and Qibla calculations
- Sent to our backend (Firebase Cloud Functions, hosted in the EU) only when you actively use the "Find Mosques Near Me" feature or submit a mosque report — used in real-time to query third-party mosque data and is not stored long-term
- Not associated with any personal identifier and never sold or shared for advertising
1.2 Local Storage
The app stores the following data locally on your device only using AsyncStorage:
- Prayer completion tracking (which prayers you marked as prayed)
- Notification preferences (sound, vibration, or off for each prayer)
- Calculation method preference
- Quran bookmarks, favorites, notes, and reading history
This data never leaves your device and is not accessible to us.
1.3 Advertising Data
DailyDeen uses Google AdMob to display advertisements. Google AdMob may collect certain data as described in Google's Privacy Policy, including:
- Device identifiers (Advertising ID)
- IP address
- General location (derived from IP, not GPS)
- App usage data and interaction with ads
We do not control the data collected by Google AdMob. Please refer to Google's privacy policy for details on how they handle your data.
1.4 Mosque Reports (Optional)
If you choose to report a missing mosque or correct an existing one through the in-app form, we collect:
- The mosque name, address, and GPS coordinates you provide
- An optional email address, only if you choose to enter one
This data is stored in our Firebase Firestore database (hosted in the EU) so that our team can review and approve the report. We use the email solely to contact you back if we need clarification, or to let you know whether your report was approved. We never use it for marketing and never share it. You can request deletion of your email at any time by writing to the contact address below.
2. How We Use Information
We use the collected information for the following purposes:
- Location: To calculate prayer times and Qibla direction
- Local storage: To remember your preferences and progress
- Advertising: To display relevant ads and support the app's development
3. Data Sharing
We do not sell, trade, or share your personal data with any third parties, except:
- Google AdMob: As described above, for advertising purposes
- Quran API (api.quran.com): The app fetches Quran text from this public API. No personal data is sent — only the surah/ayah number requested
- Firebase (Google): We use Firebase Cloud Functions and Firestore (EU region) to power the mosque search and mosque report features. See Firebase Privacy.
- Foursquare Places API: When you search for mosques nearby, your approximate coordinates are sent server-side to Foursquare to retrieve a list of mosques. See Foursquare Privacy.
4. Children's Privacy
DailyDeen is suitable for users of all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The app does not require account creation or any personal information input.
5. Data Security
Most user data (preferences, bookmarks, prayer tracking) is stored locally on your device, and the security of that data depends on the security of your device. Mosque reports and any optional email you provide are stored on Firebase (Google Cloud, EU region) and protected by Google's standard security measures.
6. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Deny location access: You can deny or revoke location permission at any time through your device settings. The app will still work, but prayer times and Qibla will not be available.
- Reset advertising ID: You can reset your advertising ID or opt out of personalized ads through your device settings.
- Delete local data: You can clear all app data by uninstalling the app or clearing app data in your device settings.
- Delete mosque report data: If you submitted a mosque report with an optional email, you can request deletion of that email (and the associated report) by writing to the contact address below.
7. Third-Party Services
DailyDeen uses the following third-party services:
- Google AdMob — for advertising (Privacy Policy)
- Firebase (Google) — Cloud Functions + Firestore for mosque search and reports (Privacy)
- Foursquare Places API — mosque data provider (Privacy)
- Expo / React Native — app framework (no data collection)
